Light golden color confirm’s this 19 year old champagne’s age. Upon opening, the nose is full of citrus and mineral notes. The flavor profile is unique as apple and lemon start with a stark transition to quinine and acid before finishing with caramel apple notes. It was neither bready or yeasty, but it has ample acidity with some mineral harshness offset by caramel richness. This was an intriguing champagne and my first foray into vintage Perrier-Jouet’s Belle Epoque.
