This is a wine that opens more with savory and mineral intensity than with overt fruit. Mint, sweet pipe tobacco and sage lead the aromatic profile, while the fruit remains in the background on first impressions. Driving yet fine‑grained tannins shape the mid‑palate and the finish, giving the wine a lively sense of structure and focus that is unmistakably Montefico.
The palate reveals chalky mineral ripples, dried herbs, dried flowers and a hint of earthiness, culminating in a saline‑infused finish that feels both precise and remarkably expressive.
This is classic Montefico: not a flamboyant wine, but one built on tension, clarity and textural refinement — a Barbaresco that speaks clearly of its cool, marly soils and the rigorous, traditional approach of Roagna.
Juicy and resonant, with loads of ripe cherry and peppery spice set against firm but supportive tannins. Despite its intensity, the wine maintains a fine viscosity, driven by tangy acidity and a finish where bright fruit intertwines with tar, mineral and savory underbrush notes.
